"Fancy" notebook -Cricut project

So, here is a notebook I made today. I also made one with a big black cat with big googly eyes. ;) I took this picture with my phone so it's really not great quality-sorry I was just being lazy and didn't want to get distracted when I went to get the camera --somehow it never fails that someone needs me or I see something that needs to be done and I forget!lol I will get on the ball and have my camera handy... I used "Forever Young" for the lady and "Paisley" for the dog. The paper came from Michaels, it had various animal prints and solid color cardstock to match -I love it! Thanks for looking!

First, my Cricut Expressions and everything that comes with it should be here in a few days, I'm anxiously waiting! I have even gotten two cartridges in addition to the ones coming with it. I found deals on Robotz & the Paisley cartridges. I also have a Sesame Street & Sesame Street Font cartridge on it's way, which will please my Sesame Street fan in the house(Lindsey)...

We are also going on a little vacation, just me and the girls with Grandma & cousin! We are going to San Diego to Sea World(our first time), then to Disneyland, my most favorite place to visit! We are using our tickets that we received for participating in the "Give A Day Get A Day" promotion. We volunteered on three different days so that the whole family could get their tickets, but Cris will not be going with us after all. I so need a vacation and I know we are going to have a blast, I can't even tell you how excited I am!

In the meantime during our count down I am going to try to get a few autograph/memory books made for the kids -wish my Cricut E was here already! I also need to make some play dough and get a "entertainment bag" made up for our in between times from the parks. I always say I'm not going to tell the kids about our trips to Disneyland because each day ends with less sleep because of the anticipation -by the time we get there they are exhausted!lol Hoping since we have been a few times that they will be able to sleep this time because I am terrible at keeping secrets and couldn't wait to tell!!!LOL

Twinkle, twinkle, little star...

How I wished and wished upon the stars to get a new cutting machine, any cutting machine.... Well, HSN was having a fabulous deal this weekend with free shipping and flexible payments so I did it and it comes with three cartridges and other goodies!!! I ordered a new Cricut Expressions and I will be stalking the UPS driver daily until it arrives! The next tricky part will be to break it to my husband but the way things have been around here maybe I'll just see if he notices it before I mention it! :D I have been pretty bitter ever since I sold my other E about a year ago along with ALL of my cartridges and cutting mats. I do need to build those things back up but hey I can be happy until then and my new machine will be here to stay until it dies!

In the meantime I am going to continue to be searching blogs and looking for new things to try when my new bug gets here. I am just so excited, I can't even tell you! So please come back and see me and I'm sure if i will be visiting you too... I can feel it, this is the start of good things to come, my world is going to feel somewhat normal again... ahhhhh (breath of fresh air)...

Bowl-a-thon completed!

We had a great day! We were only the second group to bowl and with our group and the group before us the Boys & Girls Bowl for Kids Sake had already brought in $7,000.00! That is great! There were four more groups to bowl after us so I can't wait to see what the final numbers are. It was a great experience and we will do it again next year. Carley is already planning on putting together her own bowling team with her friends! I love when kids can volunteer and do something good AND they get to have some extra fun along with the satisfaction of doing something good for someone else. :) Thanks to all who helped our team!

Also, I wanted to mention if you haven't signed up for the Disney "Give A Day, Get a Day" then do it! We volunteered and collected food for the food bank and receieved our Disney ticket vouchers about a week later. We're going to Disney Land hopefullly in June and our park tickets are free! That is also how we got involved in the Bowl for Kids Sake Bowl-A-thon... Me and the girls didn't get Disney tickets for doing the bowl-a-thon but half of our team will! Isn't that awesome? It was painless to sign up too, just go to www.disneyparks.com and start there, they will take you through the process step by step and I've noticed they keep adding new volunteer opportunities everyday... I love it!

My Digital Studio

I bit the bullet yesterday and ordered My Digital Studio! I know it's going to be great I would have ordered it the second it was available to deomonstrators, however the state of the economy has affected our household too so every purchase we make has to be thought through and if we can do without it we don't buy it right now. It stinks, but it's life and we will do what we need to do. So, could I have lived without it?--Definately! But, it help me this holiday season when I am trying to "give" to our family and I really don't have a budget to do much of anything. I also wanted it so that I can learn it, use it, and share with my customers who are thinking about purchasing it themselves. It's a great tool to help with everyone's gift giving this year and for years to come and for all occassions, not just Christmas. I will be sharing what I do with it, I know there will be books and calendars and I can't wait to do cards and I will also venture into new crafts with it - I can't wait! Warm up with a cup of Chai!

I got this recipe off of the internet a few years ago, I'm sorry I don't know who where to give credit to for it. It is a favorite in our house and I wanted to share. I use store brand ingredients unless the others are on sale. The spices can get spendy but if you watch the sales (specially this time of year) it's not so bad. The recipe below is good mixed in water or skim milk. We like it both ways, it's milder and creamier tasting with milk.

This recipe also makes a great treat/gift addition during the holidays. Package up in baggies with a cute computer crafted or rubber stamped topper, put it in jars with a cute tag or label attached!

Chai Tea Mix

Ingredients:

1 Cup nonfat dry milk powder
1 Cup Powdered non-dairy creamer
1 Cup French Vanilla powdered non-dairy creamer
2 1/2 Cups white sugar
1 1/2 Cups unsweetened instant tea
2 teaspoons ground ginger
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon ground cardamom

Directions:

1. In a large bowl combine all ingredients, mix well.

2. In a blender or food processor add mixture about 1/4 - 1/3 of mixture and blend until mixture is a fine powdery consistency.

3. Store in air tight container.

To serve: Add two heaping tablespoons to mug of hot water. Enjoy!

4th of July card & accordian album cover

Good morning! The sun is shining, the birds are singing and I KNOW it's going to be a most wonderful day... I am posting these couple things I just made and then we are off to Grandma's house to swim and enjoy the beautiful sunshine! :)

I got a few things done for 4th of July and you don't have to run and check your calendars, it's not July 3rd or 4th yet!lol I actually got it done ahead of time, I'm just as shocked as you... I used the creatable Celebrations Throughout The Year from pccrafter. Suzy Toronto is one of my favorite artists there, I think I have all the creatables offered by her. I also used stampin up cardstock of course - it's the best!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! The sun was shining here today and it was beautiful except it was freezing! The wind that was blowing felt like it was blowing off of ice bergs! Okay maybe that's a little bit of an exageration as I have never been anywhere near an iceberg!lol But it was cold let me tell you!!! I did manage to get a few cards made, figured I better do some Father's Day cards since Father's Day IS tomorrow. I also did a "Thinking of You" card using the same SU (of course!) stamp set. Thanks for stopping by to see what I'm up to, plan on doing some blog hoppin' tomorrow after my walk as we are planning on hanging out at home and enjoying each other and our home. :)

cupcake birthday invitations

Hello friends! I know I am a terrible blogger, somehow by the end of the day I just don't have the energy to craft much. Really, it's not that I don't have the energy to craft -I would craft half asleep if I could. It's the mess I leave myself afterwards that I don't have the energy to deal with.lol

Anyway, Emily will be 8 years old one week from today. I can't believe how time flies... I started out to make an ice cream cone invitations with the same concept but couldn't find an ice cream cone I wanted to use. I used this cupcake out of one of my hugware creatables and when I went back to see which one so that I could share would be you believe I can't find it anywhere! I searched for over an hour last night for it and couldn't find it! I used just the one cupcake image, I printed them out and cut them apart. In Digital Image 2006 I used my magic wand to choose the top of the cupcake, deleted most of sprinkls and then chose to "duplicate" the area that was highlighted with the magic wand. Obviously that is the area I chose to put the party information on. So, to start I had three pieces - the top of the cupcake, the bottom of the cupcake, and the inside top of the cupcake. I glued the bottom of the cupcake and the inside party information to a piece of black card stock, I then glued the a small section of the top of the cupcake onto the invitation information. I cut the black cardstock outlining the whole cupcake and then used my score pal to score just under the cherry so that the card would open up nicely. We then used stickles to the cherry to add a little bling, I wanted to add a little tag that said "your invited" and attach it with a ribbon tied around the bottom of the cupcake but had to get them out so left it as is. Next time....

So, that is my share for today. I really enjoyed myself getting these made and I didn't make too big of a mess and it didn't take too much time. All of that is motivation to create some more. Today the girls and I will be making Father's Day cards, maybe I will get to share them too! :) Have a great day friends...

It seems like it has been ages since I have shared anything at all... Well, it has been over a month anyway which IS ages... I made these two cards last night, real quick! Lindsey wanted me and me only. I had already started so I was determined to get it done! Nothing too fancy, just quick and simple.

I have been wanting this stamp set and so I ordered it when I was picking out FREE stamp sets that I had earned during the sale-a-bration--I love free stuff! Anyway, I also used some of the designer paper from SU that I recently received--I took advantage of the sale this month (Buy 3 get 1 free). Well, that week proved to be another unproductive one...kinda!

Well I didn't get far with my box but I will get it done before May --I hope! I have a workshop and doctor appointments out of town for the next two weeks but I have to squeeze my box in there somewhere... I can't believe I didn't get anything creative done... Oh well...

We welcomed a new member of the family in today. This is "Rocky" (short for Rocket) Emily's new puppy, he's 11 weeks old. He's 3/4 Shih tzu 1/4 pomeranian and is so loveable. He wasn't my first choice when we first seen him but Em fell in love with him out all the others right from the start. She wasn't interested in even playing with the other ones, we looked at a few other litters in other places but she wanted this puppy. Now that I think about it I really should have made her wait until her birthday in June but it's too late now!LOL I got him for her now because I am having an overnight stay at the hospital and she has been having a hard time thinking about that. I guess in a way I am bribing her by getting it now but I also think that she truly needs this little guy right now. I wanted her to feel extra special because I think she was starting to feel like a "middle child" and I don't want her feeling left out. Although we always say she has the best of both worlds, she gets to be a little sister AND a big sister... But you know how it goes....

Anyway, back to Rocky... We went over to my Mom's today to go in the pool, it was a beautiful day perfect for the pool. Lindsey even went in and loved it! But, Rocky also went in and we weren't expecting that one!LOL He went to the edge of the pool to be by the girls and next thing you know he was swimming! We set him out and he tried to come back in so Carley got out and got him dried off and away from the pool... When he's with Emily he is right at her feet following her anywhere and if they stop he is sitting down and looking right up at her waiting for her next move--that's actually a really good behavior and I told her to praise and reward him often for it so that he keeps it up. I am glad we went back and got the puppy she liked best, ALLL fo the others were adorable but I guess sometimes you just know who your best buddy will be without even knowing him, right? :)

Hi friends! Well, I haven't accomplished much in the last couple days... But I did get a project started and I thought if I posted the beginning of my project I would be more motivated to get it finished and shared so that is what I'm going to do. :) Can anyone guess what I am doing with this box?

Did you all have a nice Easter? It was just shy of 80 degrees yesterday for Easter. The kids woke up to find the Easter Bunny had left them some goodies and then it was off to Grandma's house for an egg hunt, good food, and swimming! I hope you had a great day too!

Happy Friday! I just wanted to stop in and say "Hi" and wish everyone a blessed Easter... We will get together with family and the kids will swim and have some fun.

Our Spring break starts today at 1:20, yay! I will get some crafting done this week and will share what I do. I have a workshop coming up in a couple weeks that will be for twin girls (8 yrs) birthday party and then the adults afterwards-kinda. I need to come up with something fun and exciting for them to make, then we will leave the goodies out for the adults to see in the second part of the party so hopefully we will book a big girls workshop or two too. :)

"journey" card

I have been wanting the "Define Your Life" stamp set and I got it last month --actually I received it free from Stampin' Up! Part of the rewards of being a SU demonstrator! Anyway, For this card I used "Journey" from the Define Your Life set, flowers from the Simply Said set. As you can see I have been getting lots of use out of that set! More than I thought I would, I will move on to something new this weekend though. :) I also used Bella Rose DS paper and for the butterflies I used the angel wings from the paper dolls Cricut cartridge. I don't know how well you can see the little bits of bling I used on the center of the flowers but they are finger nail art gems--love those! Ribbon is whisper white grossgrain ribbon... Can you believe it's April already? I remember as a child how each month seemed like it took forever to go by and days off from school be it the weekend, spring break, or summer seemed like years before we returned to school and my goodness, a whole year seemed like a life time to go by! It's Wednesday, one day closer to Friday!lol You would think I had to go out to a real job or school everyday the way I look forward to the weekends, ha? I have my second workshop this evening, the hostess had a set of cards that I had made and decided she wanted to make a card that was in that pile for her workshop. I really didn't want to add that card to my sample cards because I wasn't really happy with how it turned out, but I did... Anyway, I since I already wasn't happy with it and knowing I will not take the "bling" that is on it for everyone at the workshop I decided to flip it a little and make it something I would be happy to demo. This is what I came up with... If I make another one later I will most definately add some "bling" to the center of the flowers, but I think people will like this one a the workshop, what do you think? Would you like to make this card? I also made another version because I will be demoing the bigshot and since my ovals are not from SU I wanted something that was, so the second version has the top note die used on it. :) I also made some little easy favors and door prizes, I will show those later when I come back to tell you how the workshop went.

I had this card all set up to do for my workshop on Saturday before I changed my mind and did the card with the sale-a-bration items. So, I have everything cut out and ready to go for a future workshop, I wish I could use them on Wednseday but my hostess requested a card that I had shown her. I really need to get everything ready tomarrow, I had planned on doing it today but as usual I went to town and it seems like I get trapped there all day!LOL I didn't even do anything fun either...lol Oh well, that's life! Anyway, just wanted to share, this is a quick and easy card using A Flower For All Seasons stamp set. :)

I almost forgot... This is the little hostess gift I gave my hostess, I just filled it with some Hershey Kisses. It was also quick and easy and I was able to use my new scallop oval punch & stamps(Available April 1).

Happy Monday to everyone! I hope everyone had a nice weekend...

I did my first "official" Stampin' Up! workshop yesterday and it went well! I was nervous but excited, a few people canceled on the hostess at the last minute but it was nice the way it was. There were 4 people and plenty of time to get through the catalog and share a few coloring techniques, demo the punches AND I didn't take my Big Shot but we did talk about it a little bit and I sold one and a couple dies to go with it... I also booked another workshop for April! Now, if my workshop on Wednesday goes as well I may just be really hooked as I had a lot of fun too... :)

This is the card we made at the workshop... The paper, ribbon heart stamp, and design paper are all Sale-A-Bration items... If you have any questions please let me know. :)

Another Card

Good morning! I have a very simple card to share today. I used Stampin' Up! Doodle This stamp set along with the bold brights & whisper White card stock & bold brights stamp pads. I added a button and some bling. Of course you can see I also used the Big Shot and Top Note die.

Next I just wanted to share another idea with you.... Have you thought about using your scrapbook papers for gift wrap? I used a plain piece of paper to wrap my box, gave it a strip of DP in the middle and cut out my stamped image (flower) and applied it with Glue Pop Dots. Birthday tin

Emily went to a birthday party today and this little bandaid tin was part of the gift. We put 5 flavored chapstick/lip glosses in it along with a $20 gift card.

I used the birthday cake from Fun & Fast Notes stamped on SU water color paper with Stazon black ink. I colored the stamped image with my color wonder water color crayons (If you haven't tried these, you need them!). The dp wrapped around the tin is SU too of course, as well as the cardstock layered behind the water color paper. I also used a little diamon stickles on the cake's "fluffy" layers. The ribbon is from Michaels - I do prefer my SU ribbon but I haven't had the $ to get all of the colors yet. :) This was a fun & fast little project... I love these bandaid tins!

Already playing dress up...

Happy Saturday! So, a few times in recent weeks I have thought about the girls not playing with dolls anymore. But then I have realized that they don't play with their dolls anymore because they have their own live baby doll! Last night Carley was playing with Lindsey and when I went to go get Lindsey ready for bed she had been transformed into Sleeping Beauty! But, she wasn't sleeping...lol After Halloween I bought a couple princess costumes and hung them in the closet, figuring Lindsey could use them in the future for dress up or maybe even for Halloween next year. I wasn't quite thinking right now, she's only 6 months old!

So, how much longer do you think Lindsey will continue to let her sisters dress her in one outift into another - all for their entertainment? I have a feeling she will continue to let them as long as they are willing to play with her and I'm sure they are creating a little clothes monster for me to deal with... Oh well, life with girls!

Well, I didn't get much done even though I was home most of the day. I did manage to get a couple cards & a band aid tin done. But now that I look at the tin I forgot to add ribbon or something to the handle - I will have to do that. :) Anyway, the card was inspired by the MojoMonday sketch and the tin I did just because I wanted to use more of that fun cherry paper! Everything used is from Stampin' Up! except for the ribbon & bandaid tin.

Just Jawing Altered Tin

Here's my creation for today. I am trying to get some sample projects done before my two SU workshops coming up so I am going to try to do at least one project or card each day until then and hopefully a few over the weekend. I have had this little tin for a long time, I bought the template for the lid and cut out around the snap but was disappointed to find out it's for a bigger tin when I finaly decided to use it today.lol It's okay though, it all worked out. I used Stampin Up's rockabilly paper pack, just jawing stamp set, dazzling diamonds glitter, stazon stamp pad and the white pen, ribbon, red sticky tape & pop up glue dots. The extra bling is nail art "diamonds". I am going to try to make some note cards to go in the tin, if not note cards then I will put a few other goodies to match - maybe a bookmarker, mini composition book, some matching stickers, and of course candy!

A little brag on the girls....

It's report card time! I just had to take some time and stop in here and do a little bragging. :D Carley received mostly A's besides a C and a B+. The C she is very upset about - I'm not upset about it except I know it could be better because it is a subject she sores at; Spelling! The B+ is very, very impressive and reflects her hard work for sure. It was in Math which is the only subject she has ever struggled in. She is they type of girl that doesn't like to do something unless she can perfect it. She got to a point that she just didn't even try on her math and then would be so upset to get a D or D- on her report card. Finaly she listened seemed to listen to me a little bit (it was probably something else but I'll take a little credit!LOL) in the last semester last year and made the honor roll. she had only one grade that wasn't an A and she set goals for this year to get on the honor roll again... I'm sure she is headed in that direction too! She has developed GREAT study habits and her homework and a small snack are her priorities as soon as she walks in the door when she gets home from school. I AM SO PROUD!

As for little Miss Emily well she has never had anything less than all "E"s and she even got some E+ this time around. She is the only kid in her class that is in the "advanced" reading and the teacher said she is more than ready for 3rd grade. Her teacher said she has taken three or four of Emily's stories and poems and entered them into the district wide writing contests too. She said Em sometimes gets to socializing in groups but she can't even saying anything negative about that because Emily still gets her work done and does it good! Again I AM SO stinkin PROUD!

Okay, so I can't leave the littlest girl out of these boasts, can I? Well, she's just barelyu 6 months old and she is pulling herself up and standing and has even tried to let go a couple times but caught herself... She's saying Mama, dada, and hi! She eats great too, she has a new love for avacados and ground up chicken... She also loves cheerios!

wow! What a week...

WOW! This week seemed to just fly by right before my eyes. Yes, the kids had Monday off from school for Presidents day but I dreaded Tuesday as if it were any other Monday... I don't even remember what I did on Tuesday, isn't that terrible? On Wednesday I picked the girls up from school early and we got home to watch the Amgen tour go through town. We went "down town" to watch with some friends because my husband said the bikes would be going around our house rather than right past our house..grrrrr We could have stayed home and watched from our yard or even walked down the driveway to see them up close. It was exciting anyway, we waited for about two hours and they were a little late coming through BUT still made it to the finish line around the time that they were expected to. There was a lot of excitement while we waited. Between the vans that were with the race going through and throwing out boxes of yellow chalk for everyone to write on the road to welcome the bikers (do you think they read anything that was written to them?LOL), to the highway patrols speeding through and the guys that came through with loud speakers talking to everyone. Lots and lots of excitement for our teeny tiny town!

Today, Friday we had to take Lindsey back to the Childrens Hospital for her check up with the CF specialist and this time she had another sweat test as did Emily, next time Carley will have a sweat test. They said they wouldn't call if Em's test came back normal and so no news is good news in this case. We didn't hear from anyone so yay! I still don't get why they are sweat testing Lindsey again though. I asked the doctor said because she might come back with a positive sweat test and if it comes back "normal" again they probably wont do it again or they may decide to do it again a year from now or if she starts presenting symptoms of CF. Okay, so they have confirmed she has CF by our genetic testing. I feel confident they are who we want to have to turn to when we need them BUT I hate that they do things "just because something might change" and they can document it for their "statistics". I know they need the research and everything but this is exhausting. I don't want my family to just be a source to fill their data base with while they "learn" more about cf. It's emotionally and physically exhausting to me to do these appointments - but you can bet I will continue because I couldn't live with myself if lindsey started presenting any symptoms that I missed.

Anyway... Everything was good and I am so thankful for that! Thank you for your prayers and continued friendship and support. ;)

I think these two cards turned out to be my favorites this weekend. I used Stampin Up's Eastern Blooms set and a little butterfly from Flight of the Butterfly set. The ribbon and card stock is also Stampin Up! I added some jewels to complete the cards... Let me know what you think...

Cards & Scallop Bag

Well, I didn't get to that sketch challeng but I did try out my nestabilities and I think I like them, but as soon as I can I will have to order the large sets too... I am still going to try to do the sketch, but it probably wont be until tonight after everyone is sleeping and it's quiet and I can focus on what I want to do. I did get some little pillow boxes made using my Big Shot but forgot to take a picture of those. I made one scallop bag and have a few more cut out and ready to put together. I also made the card below, I used the nestabilities for the oval shapes and I used the heart and little flowers from SU Simply Said set, added a little bling and ribbon, it's from the ribbon bundle in the Sale-A-Bration catalog. The Designer papers are also Stampin Up... :) Thanks for looking and please come back soon!

Adding a couple more cards... The one with the stars Carley and I made together. She started it and started to lose interest, then I added something to it and then she got another idea and pretty soon we had a completed card. ;) I think it turned out pretty cute...

Happy Sunday! Hope everyone has a nice day today... I am off to try a card using my new oval nestabilities that I got a little while ago but haven't even opened. I got the small oval scallops and small ovals. When I seen the sketch today from passion for crafts I thought today would be the perfect day to get them out - no excuses! I love seeing these sketches, they are a great motivation and the samples that are shown with them are always inspirational as well. When I grow up I want my cards to look as pretty as the sample shown there today. I am looking forward to the Mojo Monday sketch tomarrow too... If I actually get a card or two finished I will come back and share what I did.

A few cards!

I was actually to get a few cards made this morning. I gave up on my craft room for the day - everyone keeps piling stuff in there and I can barely walk. Sooooo, I just moved everything I wanted to use right onto the kitchen table and I have been having a blast. The girls have joined me for a couple cards too so it's been a great day so far!

Oh yeah, did I tell you what I got for Valentine's Day? I got the Big Shot! I actually had bought it for myself but then Cris' got his hours cut at work and so I was feeling more than guilty for buying it. But, he asked me if I wanted it for my birthday or for Valentine's Day... Is he the bestest husband in the world? I am nervous about the cut backs and what we will do if it lasts too long, but we will get through it one way or another.

My attempt at the mojo monday sketch #73

Happy Tuesday! My card was inspired by the mojo monday sketch this week. I was determined to get a card done last night, didn't matter that I was having a terrible time keeping my eyes open because I was so exhausted, I was getting it done!LOL In fact, you will see how tired I was. I was putting the little bling on the left top corner and I was going for the little "diamonds" when I got to the third one I thought I messed up and put pink on the other two. I was seeing pink for some reason, I was so mad at myself! There were a few pinks mixed in with the ones I wanted so it wasn't impossible. But this morning, after some much needed rest I see that there is only one pink "diamond" on there and the other two were just as I intended to do. Oh well, I guess you could say it adds character.lol I also missed an embellishment to go over the ribbon so I will add that later when I get home and I should have put the ribbon over one more layer of cardstock. Oh well, I tried and I did officially get it finished on Monday. Next time I better start earlier so I might (keyword is might) actually get it right. It wqas fun anyway and I did get a card done, so thank you mojo monday for keeping me on my toes, or should I say for helping me to stay awake long enough to get something done in my craft room. :)

"Owl" about Valentine's Day!

Today Emily woke up wanting to do valentine's for her class party. We were going to do something with candy but decided we would just take some candy to the class room and she would do cards. Our school district has a strict policy on "healthy foods" only, which means no candy or sweets for any holiday. It takes some fun out of the parties and makes it harder for the room mom to plan parties sometimes but does force us to be a little more creative and I don't think it's terrible that their celebrations are centered around a bunch of junk food. But, I think they should get treats once in a while and I think Valentine's Day is just one of those days that a little chocolate is quite alright. So we will sneak in some kisses, we just wont send them with our name on them!LOL

Anyway, We decided on the little owl card on the Cricut Indie Art cartridge. We were going to do something more traditional but it just wasn't sounding as fun. I cut the owls at 3", I meant to do them 3.75" but forgot to change the dial which is okay because we loved the size they are. I inked the edges a little bit and then Emily pretty much put them all together, including Carley's cards. She punched the little heart beaks out of pink paper using my hearts punch from Stampin Up, she told me she was going to be just like me when she grows up and she will have her own cricut and also sell Stampin Up because she knows I have fun like that almost everyday. Isn't that sweet? She comes in and makes cards with me a lot, just some days she's a little more into it than others. Carley usually likes to do that stuff too but she was working on a report for school and wasn't interested in being crafty when she was done. Girls Rock! Birthday Gable Box

It's my niece's 7th birthday on Sunday, I had to make her a little something to go with the rest of her gift. I had fun making this, it all came together real easy. Inside there is a matching mini composition book and some stickers. I am also going to add some candy packs and maybe a tic-tac-toe game to coordinate with the whole theme too. I used jersgirl free gable box template and the clip art/background I used is from Beth Logan's "Girls Rock". The frame with Ella's name in it came from Tomianni's etsy shop, go check it out for great cut/print files. I printed everything on Staples Brand glossy photo paper. This is Linsey's first video!LOL All I had close by was my digital camera and I can't figure out how to get sound on the video recordings. Well, okay I really haven't tried!LOL I did get my digital Video Camera out and charged it up though so I can start using it. Bumbly Bears Card

I decided I was going to start taking the Mojo Monday's sketch challenge and making a card at least once a week. Doesn't sound like much does it? I haven't done much in the past year as far as crafts/card making goes and I'm trying very hard to get back in the swing of things. So, that's my goal for myself right now... I was going to make this card using my stamps BUT I have been trying to come into my craft room to do that since Monday morning and it just wasn't happening. Instead I used Laurie Furnell's Bumbly Bears creatable from Pccrafter. It's the first time I have used a sketch to guide me in making a card and I liked it! The layout is there, it's just deciding what you want to put in the layout and the colors you want to use, etc... Takes a little bit of the guess work/time out of it for me. Yay! So, here's my card...

Valentine Gable Boxes & Pocket Tic-Tac-Toe

We got to stay home all day today, I love staying home but today was not by choice. Carley & Emily were both home from school today because they are sick. Two different illnesses too, can you believe it? Carley is down to just a dry cough, but poor Em -she's just miserable. She has been running a fever and her throat hurts bad. If it's the same or worse tomarrow I will be taking her to the doctor - they both have had a tendency to get strep throat, although Carley hasn't had it since getting her tonsils removed last year. I sure hope Emily doesn't have to go through that, but it did make a huge difference in Carley's health so if she has to, she has to...

Anyway, I had a chance to make a couple little things today in between everyone taking naps. I made two little gable boxes, the small one was made using a regular sheet of paper with the template on the page twice. The larger box was the template (x2) on larger 13" x 19" paper. To give you a better comparison, a business car fits perfectly in the bottom of the small box... I used the Gable Box Template from Jersgirl and I used Marie Cole's creatable Hugs & Kisses to pretty it up.
Next, I messed up when I printed my first tic-tac-toes and they came out too small. I cut them out and thought maybe I could find something else to do with them and decided to try this. I made this little "pocket tic-tac-toe" packet. If I would have been planning on making this I would have printed the words "Valentine Tic-Tac-Toe" instead of writing them. Anyway, inside there are pink & red M & M's for the x's and O's... The bag is held in with a couple glue dots and the bottom is tied together with the pink ribbon. thought it would be fun to stick in a card or something.

Valentine Tic-Tac-Toe Box from floppy disk storage box

I bought 3 or 4 sets of these floppy disk storage boxes on clearance at Staples. They were only 50 cents and had a few per pack, how could I pass them up? I knew they would be good for something, sometime but I didn't know what. Since I am trying to save money, I am digging into all these goodies that I have had for months and even years and I'm going to use them and limit my spending on craft supplies. So, this was my challenge today, to turn this black box into something for Valentine's day...

I decided to make a tic-tac-toe box using the tic-tac-toe template from jersgirl and clip art from Laurie Furnell's My Funny Valentine 2... I love that creatable! I used some scrapbook paper too that I had stored away. I bought the little hearts for the tic-tac-toe markers at Target in the dollar section. You can't see around the rim, but I added some MS ribbon with hearts. I used the Xyron to adhere everything to the box... This is how it turned out.

This set was made using Marie Cole's creatable "Hugs and Kisses"...

I gotta tell you it worried me a little bit to go look to see what photo I would have to post but it turned out not to be so bad... This is actually pretty fun!
This is a picture taken Feb. 2008 of a mama sea otter and her baby, if you look closely you can see the baby nursing. They were so cute! It was a rainy day and me, my Mom and Carley & Emily decided to head over to Morro Bay to see the waves. I always stop to see the sea otters too but this day there was 6 or 8 little otter families and the babies were so fun to watch.

Recycled spaghettios can gone girly

Hello Friends!
It's Friday!!! Yeah!!! I am so happy it's the weekend. It's been a long week, I am glad the kids had Monday off because I am just wore out this week. One extra day might have done me in.lol

Once in a while my kids get on a kick and want spaghettios or raviolis out of a can OR sometimes I goof and forget to take something out for dinner... They gotta eat though right?lol So, last night it was grilled cheese sandwiches and spaghettios! I kept the can and told myself I was going to do something with it, yes I have done this many times before and end up throwing the cans away. So, I actually did a little something with it... I used some pretty Stampin up paper, and the Love you Much stamp set and dress it up a little bit. First I should say I used one of those safety can openers that takes the whole rim off of the can. The whole reason I bought it was so I could do these cans and that was two years ago!LOL Eventually I get around to doing stuff - I always, always, always have great intentions!LOL Then I decorated the can with the paper, stamps, ribbon and a few rhinestones. I filled the can with a little surprise for a friend. :D I glued the lid back on with Aleen's Fast Grab tacky glue (the purple bottle). That's it, it's all finished, I just need to let the glue finish drying.

As I'm typing this I just had a thought, this would be a fun girl scouts art project... Maybe a fun May Day project to deliver to a nursing home for Easter and delivered to the Women's shelter, or something? Hmmmm, I'm going to have to talk to Emily's GS leader and see if she wants me to start saving her some cans. :D

Little Birdie tags

Hey everyone! I hope everyone is having a fantabulous Wednesday... I made several of these little round tags last night, they were quick and easy and I liked how they turned out. Last night was the first time I used Stickles on anything! I love that stuff, I need to find a good source to order it from. I had picked up a Christmas pack at Michaels, I wish they carried it all the time and in many colors, if I'm missing it meone please let me know where to find it in the store. :) Anyway, back to my tags. I used SU Whisper White card stock to stamp the birdies on, and they I used the SU scallop punch as well. The birdies are from the valentine bundle that is available through Jan. 31 for 20% off. The other card stock is what I had in my stash and the ribbon is Martha Stewart - I love it too!lol

They are going to use $ to support research anyway, please help encourage them to support research in finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic Fibrosis is an idividual disease, and affects everyone differently.

If you didn't know it already, Lindsey, my baby was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when she was about 4 weeks old. We are blessed that she is thriving right now, no signs whatsoever. Right now we are taking precautions to keep her healthy in hopes it will be a long time to come before we see any kind of symptoms. The doctors can't promise us anything one way or another about her health. They can't tell us when she will be affected, right now we take her to the pediatrician and to see the doctors at the Childrens Hospital in Madera on a regular basis. They will let her body tell us what we need to do with her. If you don't know somebody with CF already, chances are you will sometime since they are diagnosing CF during newborn screenings and adults are now being diagnosed more often as well. We need a cure!

WOW! I just finished watching this video at Andrea's blog and I gotta say it was a great way to start my day. THANK ANDREA! You know, not only can a hug change somebody's day but it can make a world of difference in your day and even in your life. Yesterday, a friend of the family passed away at 32 years old. She was a wife, loving mother, friend, sister, & daughter and touched many lives in her job as a caregiver. She had been going to the doctor for two years comlaining of pain in her back but they all brushed her off because she was so young. Last week she awoke to be completely paralyzed! Come to find out cancer had been spread throughout her entire body and yesterday it took her life. It left her husband a widow, her children without their Mommy, and her Mom with one less daughter and her sisters and friends with a huge loss too. Although I didn't know her very well, she still held a special place in my heart as she was a part of a life changing experience that my family went through - my mother-in-law's passing. She was a care giver to her when we brought her home to live her last days. Not only did she care for her as if she was her own family but she was there everyday to offer a hug to me too, those hugs helped. I knew her well enough to know she was a very special person and a very caring person...

So, hug your loved ones as you never know what tomarrow will bring. Don't be stingey with your hugs, okay... It could mean the world to someone, especially in todays world where there are so many challenges.

I LOVE my job of "Mommy" to my three wonderful girls!
I am a craft supply horder - mostly ribbon & paper.
Who doesn't love to be happy? I love being happy & my car license plate says so... 2BHAPP
A lot of people think I am very organized, but that couldn't be farther from the truth! I just pretend to have it all together... It causes less confusion!lol A lot of people know the truth.
My favorite thing for breakfast is left over cold pizza or cold spaghetti.
I sleep best in the early morning. If I don't wake/get up by 5:00 a.m. then I would rather sleep until 9 or 10... Of course that is not being realistic (the sleepin in until 9 or 1o) and only happens about once a month.
I love painting! I know I'm wierd but I just love the fresh clean feeling after walls have been freshly painted...

Now, I need to chose 7 people to pass this award onto. It wont be hard to chose who I chose, it will be hard to come up with 7 people that I "know" that haven't already received it. Since I don't know if a person can receive it twice I am going to try not to send it to someone who I know already has it. :D

Family Room & Kitchen... Still work in progress

But it's coming along. We still need to do a lot of paint touch up around the trim, paint the trim and I am also going to paint one side of the kitchen cabinets/drawers where we had a cabinet added on. Also, the stove top we took out was set down in front of the cabinet so they had to fix that when they installed our new one. The bar over the stove top is new too, there was always a space there but it was much higher and kind of worthless. I wanted it turned into a wall or a bar, obviously we chose the bar. :D We also need to paint the ceiling in both rooms and I need to get more decorations for the walls. I think I am going to do a collage of photos on the yellow wall, unless I find something else this weekend. I am also looking for something to go on the yellow wall in the kitchen. I am thinking I might need to add a couple shelves that I could neatly store some cook books on or I have seen a really cute cast iron framed chalk board with a rooster on it that I think would go just right too. The only thing is, it's always on back order so I've been trying to find something different and not have my heart set on it since it will probably never be available --I've been waiting about 4 months for it already! Anyway, it's all a work in progress but I think it will be finished soon and then I can finish up the guest bathroom and start on my living room. Yeah! Good morning! Just wanted to share another quick card! I used "Just Jawing" SU item no. 111660 for this card,as I was using it I realized the cherries can be used to make some darling tags and also card embellishments, etc... The little bow and flower too! I bought this set for Emily for Christmas, I'm glad we have a rule that her stamps stay stored in the craft room so I can use it some more. :) Anyway, I thought it was kinda fun and way different than anything else I ever use for making cards. I need to find a box full of my supplies that were misplaced during our remodel... I was thinking of some more "bling" that I could have used with this set...

It's time for me to finish my touch up painting in the kitchen and family room and get ready for the cleaning lady to come. I so cannot afford her right now, but you have no idea how much it helps me out. This will be the second time she has been here, I just can't wait to get home to my clean house tomorrow afternoon! :D Have a great day everyone!

I made this quick little card with some left over scraps from a purple monochromatic swap I am in. This little owl and the words are from SU set Owl Together Now and the background is SU Perfectly Pretty stamp around stamp. I never forgot how much I love having a baby, if I wouldn't get any older and if I had endless amounts of money I would have lots of babies. I just can't think of anything in the world that brings me more joy, I love all babies. But, I can't even think of a way ot express just how much I love and adore my own baby girls, all three of them. Right now, with all the new things Lindsey is doing and as exciting as it is I just can't help but think years down the road how crazy she would think I was if she was able to remember how neat I think it is with all the little things she does now. Right now she is pulling herself up so that she is sitting straight up in her high chair and plays with toys on the tray. I just started feeding her some first foods (applesauce, oatmeal, sweet potatoes, green beans and her favorite banannas) and it amazes me how she just started eating it as if she had been eating forever. She never gagged or pushed it out of her mouth because of the new texture, etc. She just loves her food! The last couple days she has decided she wants to eat her food twice a day so that is what she gets. My other two didn't eat solids until closer to 6 months and it was something we had to ease into so this is kind of a new experience. Also, would you believe she is already waking up with a dry diapy? I think she will probably be an easy potty trainer. Carley was the same way, but I didn't notice that she didn't wet her diaper until she was about 6 months. Both the older girls were pretty easy to potty train and we did it relatively early - Carley just before she turned 1 and Emily at about 13 months. Hopefully it will be the same with Lindsey and I think it will. :) I am also shocked at how fast this little girls is growing. I mean I realize the grow quick, but she is already growing out of her size 6 month clothes! The main thing I am the most thankful for right now is that she is not showing any signs of the CF and I am just hoping it continues that way for the rest of her long life! So, yeah I'm a little giddy over my girls, but that's my job and my whole reason for living so accept me for me. :) hahahaha

Where does the time go?

I had so many plans to get things finished up over this Christmas vacation or more politicaly correct "Winter Break" from school. We are working around the house whenever we are home, of course I don't get as much as I would like to do done between the babies, making meals, etc. but I'm trying. :) I just don't get enough done to be satisfied at the end of the day with my accomplishments. I have decided I'm going to start making myself a list to work from - I know I'm slow at catching on to stuff like that!LOL I received an ipod touch for Christmas (I love it!) and I am just going to put my list right on there and starting using it daily. There has to be some way for me to be more organized in getting stuff done that "needs" to be done instead of always just catching up and settling for how I want things done. Maybe with my new habit of keeping and following a list of things to do I will actually end up with some time to play in my craft room a little more often. So, I guess since it's so close to the new year you could say that's my New Years Resolution. I don't usually make a resolution at the new year because I never follow through. But, I am going to. With the baby, the kids and their school, sports, friends, and so on I have got to be more organized.

That's sums it up, my New Years Resolution is to keep a list and work from it AND to find more time to play with my crafting goodies- holding my sweet baby is the most relaxing to me but I think a little "paper craft therapy" will do me some good. Let's face it the "retail therapy" I love so just isn't a good idea right now.
